Africa's business leaders will convene in Washington D.C., for the inaugural Africa Business Investment Summit (ABIS) 2026, taking place at MGM National Harbor 27-28 August 2026 as the centerpiece of Millennium Excellence Awards America.
Continental investment forums have multiplied for a decade without lacking capital-access points — the untested variable here isn't proximity to money but whether investors who attend a Washington summit actually follow through to due diligence on African deals at a higher rate than they did after African-hosted forums, which is measurable and unreported.
The Africa Business Investment Summit opens in Washington D.C. on August 27, putting the continent's pitch to global capital inside the room where much of that capital actually sits. Holding the summit in the United States rather than an African capital is itself a statement about where the money still needs to be persuaded.
Continental investment forums have multiplied over the past decade, but access to decision-makers has usually meant flying them in, not going to where they already are. An inaugural Washington edition tests whether proximity changes commitment levels, or whether investors simply hear the same pitch delivered somewhere more convenient for them.
