Strata is an editorially independent media platform. This page sets out our policies on source attribution, image rights, AI use, copyright, and takedown procedures. Last updated: June 2026.
Every story published on Strata credits its sources. Wire reports, agency feeds, and third-party publications are named inline and linked where a canonical URL exists. We do not strip bylines or obscure origin.
Synthesised summaries — stories processed through Strata's editorial engine — carry a source block naming each publication drawn upon. The source block appears at the foot of every synthesised piece.
Where a story originates from a single publication and is reproduced under licence or fair dealing, that publication is credited as primary source in the header, not the footer.
Images published on Strata are licensed, original, or sourced from rights-cleared archives (Getty Images, AFP, Reuters, AP, Wikimedia Commons under applicable licences). We do not publish images without confirmed rights.
Every image carries a credit line: photographer name, agency or publication, and year where known. Credits appear as visible captions or, on cards, as overlay metadata. They are not buried in page source.
AI-generated images are labelled "AI-generated" at point of use. They are not used as photographic representations of real events or real people.
To report an unlicensed image or request removal, contact: legal@strata-af.com with subject line "IMAGE RIGHTS".
Strata uses an AI-assisted editorial engine to synthesise, summarise, and structure news content from multiple sources. This system is used for aggregated briefs, data digests, and multi-source summaries — not for original investigative reporting.
All AI-synthesised content is reviewed by a human editor before publication. The editorial engine does not replace reporters — it assists them. Where synthesis is the primary production method, the piece is labelled "Strata Brief" or carries an editorial tag indicating synthesised origin.
We do not use AI to fabricate quotes, invent sources, or generate fake datelines. AI is a production tool, not a journalistic source.
Strata's AI systems are trained on licensed data and do not knowingly reproduce copyrighted material verbatim at length. If you believe our synthesis has reproduced your content inappropriately, contact: legal@strata-af.com.
All original Strata content — editorials, Originals, commissioned long reads, data journalism, show scripts — is copyright Strata Media Ltd. Reproduction requires written permission unless explicitly licensed otherwise.
Strata operates within the fair dealing doctrine (and fair use equivalents across jurisdictions) when referencing, quoting, or summarising third-party works for the purpose of news reporting, commentary, and criticism. Excerpts are kept brief, attributed, and used for editorial purpose — not as a substitute for the original work.
Syndication and licensing of Strata original content is available. Contact: legal@strata-af.com with subject line "SYNDICATION".
If you believe content on Strata infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown request. Valid requests must include: identification of the copyrighted work, the URL of the allegedly infringing content, your contact information, and a statement of good faith belief that use is not authorised.
Send takedown requests to: legal@strata-af.com — subject line "DMCA TAKEDOWN". We will acknowledge receipt within 3 business days and respond substantively within 10.
Strata operates a counter-notice process for content removed in error. If you believe a takedown was submitted in bad faith, you may file a counter-notice to the same address.
We take abuse of the DMCA process seriously. Demonstrably false takedown claims may be reported to the submitting party's relevant jurisdiction.
